The limit per game is shown next to the bot count field. You can send bots in several batches while the lobby is still open.

No. The bots only fill the lobby with players. They do not answer questions or interact with the game beyond joining it, and you can remove them from this page at any time.

The bots show up as normal players with the names you gave them. Varied names and a realistic count blend in best; a lobby that fills with dozens of similar names in a second is easy to spot.
